At St. John’s, the PSHE curriculum is an important and necessary part of the pupil’s education. The PSHE curriculum equips the pupils with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions.

During KS1 pupils learn about themselves as developing individuals and as members of their communities, building on their own experiences.

In KS2, pupils learn about themselves as growing and changing individuals, with their own experiences and ideas.  As members of their communities they become more mature, independent and self- confident; they learn about the wider world and the communities within it.

St John’s fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect children and support pupils in school and beyond.  We are fully committed to safeguarding our pupils through prevention, protection and support.  We are also committed to actively promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; the pupils are encouraged to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.
