Our Governors

'Governors carry out a range of activities to assure themselves that the school’s systems are working well.' OFSTED 2024

'Leaders know their school well and are dexterous in adapting to changes in local context and pupil intake. The vision directs their decision making about strategic use of funds, staffing and resourcing.' SIAMS 2025

Our governors have a vital role to play in the life of our school and are legally responsible for many aspects.

Their main responsibilities are:

  • To provide an overview of the ethos of the school
  • To agree policies for the school including health and safety procedures, safeguarding including the Prevent Duty, sex education, RE, and worship and curriculum
  • To be accountable for the use of the school’s budget
  • Together with the Local Authority, have shared responsibility for the condition of the building and grounds
  • To have oversight of staff appointments

The members of the Governing Body represent different elements of the community.  We meet together once a term, as do the sub-committees.

Sub-committees are:

  • Premises and Health and Safety
  • School Effectiveness and Welfare
  • Finance/Staffing
  • Appeals and Complaints

Each governor (except the Head Teacher) is appointed for a period of four years.  All parents have the opportunity of becoming a school governor and all parents are entitled to take part in the election of our parent governors.  (Procedures are available on request from the Head Teacher).
