• Year 3 are mathematicians

  This week Year 3 have been exploring capacity and volume. We have been converting millilitres into litres and litres into millilitres. We then filled our own containers and compared the volume of each. 

  

• Year 5 are scientists

  This week, year 5 have been learning about gestation in humans. They then used the computers to work scientifically and hypothesise, compare and evaluate the gestation period of animals. They investigated if there was any link between the animals size and its gestation period, it’s average number of babies per pregnancy and it’s life spam.

  This week we have been exploring ‘The Wind in the Willows’ ahead of our exciting trip to RHS Bridgewater and the trail next week. We have been making character masks, retelling the story in our small world area and creating wonderful story maps. Take a look at our super story maps!

  Today we worked on a Salford art project. We took part in ‘The Paper Party’. We looked at and discussed ‘What our gift to Salford’ would be. We discussed, people we could help, places we could make better and how we could make Salford a really great place. The inside of our boxes we wrote words and pictures about what our gift to Salford be. The outside had repeated patterns of our favourite things. These will be displayed in Salford Art Museum. Come and see. 

  

• Year 5 are space explorers

  Year 5 enjoyed their trip to Jodrell Bank today. They explored the different exhibits, the space dome and enjoyed looking at the Lovell telescope. 

  

• Nursery are artists!

  Nursery are learning about the life cycle of butterflies and are making caterpillars out of playdough this week. They are working hard rolling the playdough into balls and thinking about what they can use for the caterpillars legs.

  

• Year 2 are Spreading Positivity

  This week in RE Year 2 have been learning about Judaism and a Mezuzah which contains a Shema Prayer, this is a short blessing they can say each day. We have created our own for our classroom doors to remind us to be the best we can be as we enter and leave the classroom.

  

• Year 5 are chefs!

  Year 5 enjoyed a visit from Yvonne who works for City Wide to take part in a “Food for Champions” session. They learnt about allergens and enjoyed making vegetable nuggets.

  Nursery have been having fun experimenting with colour mixing this week. We have also been working on our fine motor skills, using the pipettes to mix the coloured water.
