Our Governors

'Governors are fully supportive of your work and are equally adept at holding you to account.'

'They have become more actively involved in the everyday life of your school.  They have a realistic understanding of what is being achieved and what still needs to be done.'

'They are constantly looking at how to better themselves by ensuring that they access training to meet their needs and to make sure they are up to date with current practice.'

OFSTED 2018

Our governors have a vital role to play in the life of our school and are legally responsible for many aspects.

Their main responsibilities are:

  • To provide an overview of the ethos of the school
  • To agree policies for the school including health and safety procedures, safeguarding including the Prevent Duty, sex education, RE, and worship and curriculum
  • To be accountable for the use of the school’s budget
  • Together with the Local Authority, have shared responsibility for the condition of the building and grounds
  • To have oversight of staff appointments

The members of the Governing Body represent different elements of the community.  We meet together once a term, as do the sub-committees.

Sub-committees are:

  • Premises and Health and Safety
  • School Effectiveness and Welfare
  • Finance/Staffing
  • Appeals and Complaints

Each governor (except the Head Teacher) is appointed for a period of four years.  All parents have the opportunity of becoming a school governor and all parents are entitled to take part in the election of our parent governors.  (Procedures are available on request from the Head Teacher).
