This week, we had some visitors who came to talk to us about their exciting visit to Nairobi, the Masai Mara, visiting a Masai tribe and the Kenyan Women’s Centre. We loved hearing about their travels and learning more about Kenya.
This week in Reception we went outside to look for bugs. We explored our outdoor provision and then used our phonic knowledge to write down the names of the insects we found.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been honing our computer skills to develop and design our own website. We have recently been learning about Mary Anning so have been using this as inspiration to create our own website, using Google Sites
Last week Nursery explored printing with a range of objects. We enjoyed printing with pattern stampers, vegetables and dinosaurs.
This week Year 1 have been looking at the UK countryside and the Australian Outback. We have been describing and comparing these two places. The children have really enjoyed using their atlas skills to find where the UK and Australia are on a map. They’ve also been really interested in looking at these places on a globe.
Year 2 are really enjoying their PE sessions with Coach Dave. They have been working on their throwing and catching skills through playing different games.
This week in computing, year 4 explored what algorithms are. We then looked at how we could use algorithms to create a piece of code that would allow us to write our initials on the computer. We started by practising writing the code then moved onto applying it on the computers.
This week we have been learning all about why it is so important to stay safe online and how we can do this. We have talked about what we use the internet for and how we do this. We have looked at what cyber bullying is and what is an appropriate and inappropriate use of the internet.
