We have moved on from telling the time to focussing on statistics in Maths this week.
We have looked at tally charts, tables and will be moving onto block diagrams and pictograms. Year 2 really enjoyed going into each others classes to conduct their own survey based on a question of their choice. We had many different surveys going on at one time from finding out the most popular ice cream flavour to the most popular World Cup football team.
The children have also created clay tiles in Art last week. They really enjoyed themselves and created some beautiful tiles with lovely details.
This week we have been learning our number bonds to 10. We have been singing our ‘Farmer Pete’ song in our small world area, making our number bonds with different resources and even recording our number bonds together ready for Year 1. Keep practicing at home Reception!
Year 4 have been exploring electricity and circuits. They explored and made different switches and put these into a simple circuits.
This week Year 3 have started their science topic - plants. We explored parts of the plant and their function. We then looked further into the parts of a flower and their function. We dissected a lily to find the anther, the filament, the stigma, the ovary and the style.
Year 5 have been using clay to create their sculptures inspired by Tim Burton. We explored the different clay techniques and then began sculpting our models.
The children have enjoyed reading ‘The Fish Who Could Wish’. They were fabulous readers, taking turns to read with their reading partner.
This week Reception have been exploring our story ‘The Lucky Duck’. We have been deepening our understanding of the story through mask making, role play, painting and small world play. We have also innovated the story to create a new story called ‘The Cheeky Monkey’.
Year 3 have had a ball. We got to take part in a Roman workshop where we could dress up, become archeologies and live life as Romans. Not only that we got to take part in a Roman march down to the amphitheater in Chester where we matched in formation, battled with the teachers and became part of an incredible team.
