This week in Maths the children have been using a range of equipment to support their learning to find the best method for them.

  • Year 6 are investigators

Thu 10 Oct 2024 Miss Hardman and Mrs Howley

This week, Year 6 have been testing the affects of different exercises on their heart rates. We participated in a circuit of exercises and measured our heart rate after each round.

  • Year 2 are Philosophers…

Thu 10 Oct 2024 Mr Smith and Miss Richardson

Year 2 have been taking part in some philosophy today in-line with World Mental Health Day. We listened to a story about a girl and her worries and children then went off in groups and sorted a range of questions into ones we could ‘find out’ and ones that we needed to ‘argue.’

We then chose one question, ‘What’s the best way to deal with our worries?’ which children discussed. They shared a wonderful range of responses as to how we could deal with them and who could support us if we have a worry.

  • Year 4 are Actors

    Wed 09 Oct 2024 Mrs Phelan & Mrs Halpin-Power

This week Year 4 have started their new writing cycle. They have looked at a non-fiction piece all about Octopuses. They used all of their fabulous knowledge to act out the text. Today they have created their own brilliant (and scary) sea creature ready to create a fact file next week.

  • Year 1 are marvellous at Maths…

    Wed 09 Oct 2024

Year 1 have been learning about parts and wholes this week in Maths. We have been solving problems with missing parts and missing wholes. We have learnt that we need to use our addition skills to add parts together to work out the whole and to subtract a part from the whole to solve a missing part.

In Mastery in Number, we have been looking at the number before and the number after a given number. We have made stairs using cubes to tell each other the number before and the number after numbers up to 5.

  • Reception are Artists

    Wed 09 Oct 2024

Reception have loved exploring with paint and natural materials.

  • Year 5 are Scientists

Mon 07 Oct 2024 Mr Pierre-Wilkinson and Mr Bawden

This week, Year 5 have been exploring how plants reproduce. To do this, we dissected some plants to see the different male and female parts of the plant. The children were able to discuss the role of each part in reproducing offspring. Year 5 then moved on to discussing the different ways in which plants reproduce and the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
