On Tuesday we had a very exciting values day. Year 1 focused on the value of ‘Faith’. We started our day by reading the story of ‘David and Goliath’ and discussed how David showed faith in God. We create story maps, songs, a class prayed and ‘shields of faith’.
This week, Year 5 picked books that they have loved reading and would recommend to others. They spent time talking about their book in class, discussed what attracted to them to the book and why they liked it so much. The children then got a chance to present their recommendation in front of both classes and parents who came to watch.
This week, Year 4 have been exploring the Christian value of Friendship. We looked at the story of David and Jonathan and how their friendship overcomes the bad. We acted out the story and also created some beautiful friendship prayers. Year 4 also explored the value of love during our RE lesson this week. They produced some fantastic art work showing their own perceptions of Jesus being the light of the world. Well done, Year 4!
This week, we started our new topic on The Industrial Revolution. We started by positioning the event in history. We looked at the chronological order of historical events we knew and discussed how many periods run concurrently.
This week Year 2 have been history detectives. We investigated a range of sources from The Great Fire of London including a newspaper article, a diary entry, a map and some artefacts. The children then discussed which of these they believed to be the most reliable sources of information and which were the least reliable and why.
This week Year 4 have started their science topic all about states of matter. We looked at how the particles move within a solid, liquid and a gas.
This week, Year 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from the mathematician Anthony Reddy. He worked with the children to find new ways to work out calculations as well as playing lots of fun maths related games. A great time was had by all!
Nursery loved having their parents in during their Maths lesson. We showed our counting skills and how amazing Nursery are at number. We can't wait to have our parents in again.
Year 6 have been working hard on their drawing and painting skills. Inspired by the work of artist Georgina Luck, they have created their own illustrations using watercolours and ink. We think they look fabulous!
