Today we have been looking at the country’s best loved poems.
These have ranged from Shakespeare’s sonnets to The Sound Collector…
We selected our favourite ones then took our time to rewrite them in our neatest handwriting. Lastly we will soon be delivering these to our local community to share our love of poetry. We hope they like them!
Last week Nursery enjoyed poetry week. We read the poem, 'Hurt no Living Thing.' The children then enjoyed going on bug hunts to find minibeasts. They also enjoyed making butterflies and ladybirds in the creative area. Well done Nursery!
This week in Year 2, we have been learning and reciting the poem ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. Children have analysed and practiced the poem throughout the week and then performed these today on National Poetry Day (complete with actions.) They have even begun to adapt this poem into their own version and will continue tomorrow.
Last week Year 3 visited the Lowry to take part in an art workshop and see the exhibitions. The children created their own collages in the style of Lowry’s work. We really enjoyed our visit and are looking forward to creating more art in school soon.
This week we have been developing our passing and receiving skills. We have enjoyed improving these movements and we have also also focused on teamwork and how to communicate effectively.
Last week Nursery started reading, 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' We enjoyed exploring porridge oats and playing with the story props. We enjoyed pretending to be the different characters and we are starting to talk about our favourite part of the story. Well done Nursery!
