Year 5 have started their art topic this week focusing on Michael Craig Martin. We used carbon paper to carefully print everyday icons.
This week in Year 3 we have started our new Science topic ‘Animals, including humans’. We have started looking at what makes a balanced diet. As a group, we created our own balanced diet food pyramid.
This week our Geography learning has started with an enquiry session. The children looked at two aerial view photographs and used their prior Geographical knowledge to explain whether they thought it was somewhere in the UK or not. We have also spent time using an Atlas to locate Kenya and we did lots of research into this African country. The children have enjoyed looking at the atlases so much that we have kept some in our reading corner now for the children to access throughout the day.
Our Maths learning has focussed on finding lines of symmetry. This is a tricky skill to understand and master but the children did really well with it.
This week Year 3 have been exploring money. We have looked at addition of money, subtraction of money and have started to explore finding change. We used practical resources to support us before moving onto using a written method.
Today, Year 6 worked on their understanding of modal verbs. We acted as UN representatives for different nations and used modal verbs to suggest what we thought should be done about the global infestation of greebeldies.
This week, year 5 worked really hard during P4C and thinking about religion around us.
Year 2 have both had computing day this week where they have used iPads to take photos. They have learnt about how to take photos using the camera; how to make sure the photo is focussed, the background is clear and the object is framed correctly. Great photography skills!!
