This week in Nursery, we have learnt all about Lunar New Year. We have really enjoyed making our class dragon and listened to dragon dance music. We looked at the Chinese Zodiac story and were very excited to listen to who won the race.
This week we have recapped our learning of place value of numbers up to 30. The children used different concrete resources to represent the number and moved around the carousel of activities. Keep up this great work Year 1!
We have started our new Science topic on light and Year 6 were tasked with investigating how light travels. We set up an experiment to prove that light travels in straight lines using a torch and pieces of cards. Next time, we are learning about shadows to help Miss Hardman position her sun shade when on holiday!
Reception have enjoyed playing in our outdoors area and comparing the different changes in the weather this week. They loved playing outside on Friday, where it was so windy they made some kites and watched them dance in the wind!
This week we have been working on using ‘sticky words’ such as ‘and, but, because, so’ to join two sentences together, we have been so impressed with the children’s understanding.
This week Nursery had their Belong. Believe, Achieve workshop. The children made us really proud and were able to tell their parents what they have been learning about.
Year 4 have started their new science topic on animals including humans. We have started by looking at teeth and how different substances affect them. We have begun a science experiment where we have placed eggs in cola, vinegar, milk and water. We will observe changes over the week. We have also looked at the different teeth different animals have.
Well done Year 4.
This week to finish our Geography topic on Ecuador and FairTrade we went to Aldi to find out which brands they sell that are FairTrade. We found that while Aldi don’t carry many brands that are FairTrade they do have their own Rainforest Alliance agreement. We had a great time and all children enjoyed investigating the different types of products.
Year 2 have been Mathematicians practicing their multiplication facts by using arrays to help them identify both the repeated addition and multiplication facts. Children have really impressed us with their TTR skills and the tournament this week has been a very close one!
