Nursery are enjoying poetry week this week. We are reading the poem 'Hurt No Living Thing' and to help to bring the poem to life we have been going on bug hunts outside, we have been making mini beasts using natural objects and we have been designing our own butterflies! Well done Nursery!
This week, Year 6 started their poem for Poetry Week. We are looking at ‘The Highway Man’ by Alfred Noyes. We read the poem together, discussed the story and then used a story map to help us retell it. We all absolutely love the poem and can’t wait to get started on our setting descriptions.
This week, Year 6 have been creating proposals to open a shop on The Height. We conducted fieldwork to look at the ages of people we saw and the different types of shops to know whether our shop would thrive. We had a fantastic time!

During our science lesson, Year 4 used a dichotomous key to find and identify different types of plants and animals.
Year 2’s geography topic this half term is ‘Salford’. We ventured out on Monday for a walk around our local area to look at different types of houses. Before setting off, we mapped out a route and ensured we followed this. The children were excellent at identifying detached, semi-detached, terraced houses as well as flats. Well done, Year 2!
This week Year 3 took a trip out into our local area. We carried out some fieldwork to find out what is the most popular mode of transport used. Before leaving for our walk, we discussed the most suitable way to record this. In pairs, we recorded traffic on a tally chart over a 3 minute period. We were shocked at the amount of transport we saw in such a short space of time!
Year 1 enjoyed their local walk. Our big question was ‘Do we need more bins in our local area?’ We discovered that we do need more bins in our local area.
Nursery have started squiggling! They worked hard dancing using our flappers and then they all tried hard to use the pencils to make marks on the paper. Well done Nursery!
Year 5 have been using search engines to make web searches on the internet. We have learned how to refine our search to find specific information.
