This week year 3 have been exploring shape. We started the week by identifying 2D and 3D shapes. We then moved onto exploring properties of these shapes. By the end of the week we used our knowledge to make 3D shapes. What shapes can you see?
Year 5 have been using Google Draw to create vector drawings. These are drawings done using computer graphics. Everyone was super creative!
This week Nursery have started their text, 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' We came into school and found a huge beanstalk in our classroom. We have been talking about how it got there and who we think lives at the top. We have then been exploring magic beans and soil.
We have designed and created a sculpture using clay. We used different tools to create patterns and lines.
Before half-term Reception learned about the artist Lorien Stern and how she turns things that she grew up fearing into colourful and happy works of art. Today reception painted the clay bears they had made with bright colours inspired by her work.
This week, year 5 started their new science topic. We did an enquiry lesson about space and asked lots of thought provoking questions. We then spent time researching different planets on the devices to find out facts.
This half year, Year 4 have been exploring the artist Karla Schuster. The children have looked at different printing techniques and are using their knowledge of collage to create a piece in the style of Karla Schuster.
Year 2 have been focussing on writing sentences that are dictated by someone else. This is a great skill to practise as by dictating what the sentence will say, allows the children to focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar. The children have coped really well with trying out this new writing technique. We have seen a big improvement in their spelling too this half term - keep up the good work, Year 2!
This week Nursery are learning about Lunar New Year. We have been making dragons and trying to pick up pom poms with chop sticks. We are also going to be going around the world to see how it is celebrated in different countries.
Year 6 have been learning all about light. We spoke about both reflection and refraction. We worked as security guards to position mirrors in order to reflect the lasers and protect the vaults. We have also observed the phenomenon of refraction and can explain why this happens.
