Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Thursday, it was World Maths Day. As year 5 have been learning about decimals in maths, we decided to race each other on the playground and record our time. We then practiced rounding the decimals and converting them into fractions.
Today is World Maths Day. Year 3 have taken their maths learning outdoors. We used our fractions knowledge, our angle knowledge and our times table knowledge and applied into the outdoors. After half term we will be looking at measurement so we had a station reviewing what we already know. It’s amazing how much maths fun you can have outdoors.
This week Year 3 were lucky enough to have a visit from Reverend Owen from one of our Salford Church’s. Mrs Owen came into school to share what Easter looks like in her church. We discussed special events, how the church prepares and what she has to wear and why. Year 3 really impressed her with their existing knowledge and impeccable behaviour. Well done Year 3 you made us proud once again.
On Friday we celebrated Vision and Values day. We went round a carousel of activities with each one being linked to a different school value:
- We wrote positive messages on love hearts for the value of love.
- We thought about things we want to say sorry for or be forgiven for whilst holding special paper that then disappeared when we put it in water for the value of forgiveness.
- We planted some seeds and will watch these grow with our help for the the value of faith.
- We worked as teams to build a structure using magnetic tiles for the value of friendship.
- We worked in pairs to guide our friend around an obstacle course with their eyes closed for the value of trust.
It was a great afternoon!
This week, Year 6 started to explore Pop Art. We discussed the style and the different colours involved. The children then worked on creating their own. We think you’ll be really impressed with the results!
This week, we had Vision and Values day. We took part in 6 different activities based on the values and got stamps on our values passports. One of the values was trust in which we had to trust our partner during a blindfolded obstacle course.
This week in computing Year 3 have started to create their own branching database. We continued to develop our understanding of ordering objects/images in a branching database structure. We used an online database tool to arrange objects and created our own questions with yes/no answers. We were then able to test our branching database.
This week, we discussed different forms discrimination can take. We then talked about ways we had seen people tackle discrimination and ways we could make others feel special and included. We created a paper chain of examples we had seen or were committing to do ourselves.
This week we have moved onto the multiplication. The children have used their knowledge of arrays and repeated addition to write and solve multiplication calculations. Another important skill that they have used this week is counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s to solve the answers.
Thursday was a lovely celebration of World Book Day! We loved seeing everyone’s wonderful hats. So much effort and thought was put into them all.
Great job, Year 2!
Year 4 completed their art pieces. They took their time and produced some lovely pieces.
