Year 5 enjoyed their trip to Jodrell Bank today. They explored the different exhibits, the space dome and enjoyed looking at the Lovell telescope.
Nursery are learning about the life cycle of butterflies and are making caterpillars out of playdough this week. They are working hard rolling the playdough into balls and thinking about what they can use for the caterpillars legs.
This week in RE Year 2 have been learning about Judaism and a Mezuzah which contains a Shema Prayer, this is a short blessing they can say each day. We have created our own for our classroom doors to remind us to be the best we can be as we enter and leave the classroom.
Year 5 enjoyed a visit from Yvonne who works for City Wide to take part in a “Food for Champions” session. They learnt about allergens and enjoyed making vegetable nuggets.
Nursery have been having fun experimenting with colour mixing this week. We have also been working on our fine motor skills, using the pipettes to mix the coloured water.
We have moved on from telling the time to focussing on statistics in Maths this week.
We have looked at tally charts, tables and will be moving onto block diagrams and pictograms. Year 2 really enjoyed going into each others classes to conduct their own survey based on a question of their choice. We had many different surveys going on at one time from finding out the most popular ice cream flavour to the most popular World Cup football team.
The children have also created clay tiles in Art last week. They really enjoyed themselves and created some beautiful tiles with lovely details.
This week we have been learning our number bonds to 10. We have been singing our ‘Farmer Pete’ song in our small world area, making our number bonds with different resources and even recording our number bonds together ready for Year 1. Keep practicing at home Reception!
Year 4 have been exploring electricity and circuits. They explored and made different switches and put these into a simple circuits.
This week Year 3 have started their science topic - plants. We explored parts of the plant and their function. We then looked further into the parts of a flower and their function. We dissected a lily to find the anther, the filament, the stigma, the ovary and the style.
Year 5 have been using clay to create their sculptures inspired by Tim Burton. We explored the different clay techniques and then began sculpting our models.
