Yesterday Year 1 went to church to perform at the monthly afternoon tea for the parishioners. They wowed everyone with their amazing singing and dancing - we are so proud of them! The children made cards to spread joy and we wrote some of the lyrics on doves for the church to hang onto their tree.
This week Year 1 has been building their fraction knowledge by identifying halves and wholes from a given number. After a few days of practical hands on halving, the children put their skills to the test answering challenging reasoning questions in their books.
Year 4 have been finishing off their sculptures based on the work of Kimmy Cantrell. We created our pieces using clay and then painted using watercolours.
Well done Year 4 they look fantastic!
This week Y3 have designed and made their own clay pinch pots 🤏. We used different techniques like rolling and pinching to create our pinch pot shape. We then used different tools to create the design. What will you use your pinch pot for?
This week in RE, Year 2 went to court. They took on the roles of people from the ‘The Good Samaritan’ tale.
They debated whether each person was in the right or the wrong for their actions in the tale as the witnesses defended and explained their decisions. The class discussed the values each person showed before they voted as to whether they thought their actions were good or bad.
Year 6 have worked so hard all week and have done so incredibly well with their SATs. We celebrated today with a trip to the park and McDonalds on the field. We are so proud of them!
This week, Year 3 have started their art topic. We will be using clay to make pinch pots. Today we got to handle clay to explore how we could change its shape. We used our hands to mould the clay and then used tools to create patterns to give a desired texture. Wait until next week to see what amazing sculptors we are!
Year 4 have been exploring 2D shapes this week, looking at their angles and identifying whether they are acute, 90 degrees or obtuse. They’ve been sorting shapes and explaining their answers. Well done, Year 4!
Reception have been to church to learn about Baptism. Reverend Gareth showed us what happens at a Baptism. The children had a wonderful time and enjoyed being in such a special place.
This week, Year 5 have started their Geography topic focusing on Coasts in the UK. The children used atlases to locate settlements around the coast of the UK. The children then shared their location and looked at images of their place as a class to see what physical and human features were found there. They then discussed what was similar and different about all of the places we found.
In PSHE, we have listened to and discussed the story of Elmer by David Nichols. The children thought about what qualities make them different and special from each other, just like the patchwork elephant called Elmer in the story. They wrote down two of their unique qualities and decorated their elephant.
