  • Year 3 are Computing whizzes

    This week in computing Year 3 have started to create their own branching database. We continued to develop our understanding of ordering objects/images in a branching database structure. We used an online database tool to arrange objects and created our own questions with yes/no answers. We were then able to test our branching database. 

  • No Discrimination Day - Year 6

    This week, we discussed different forms discrimination can take. We then talked about ways we had seen people tackle discrimination and ways we could make others feel special and included. We created a paper chain of examples we had seen or were committing to do ourselves.

  • Year 2 are Marvellous at Maths…

    This week we have moved onto the multiplication. The children have used their knowledge of arrays and repeated addition to write and solve multiplication calculations. Another important skill that they have used this week is counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s to solve the answers.

     

    Thursday was a lovely celebration of World Book Day! We loved seeing everyone’s wonderful hats. So much effort and thought was put into them all.

  • Year 4 are artists!

    Year 4 completed their art pieces. They took their time and produced some lovely pieces.

    This week, year 5 went to Daisy Book to read to the year 1 children as part of our World Book Day celebrations. They were fantastic role models for the younger children! 

  • Year 3 are Historians

    Today we had a very special visitor come into school to deliver a ‘A Stone Age’ workshop. 
    We explored the tools and technology, hunting and survival as well as foraging techniques. 
    We took a journey back in time through the different eras of the Stone Age. 

  • No Discrimination Day - Year 3

    Yesterday was No Discrimination Day and we have celebrated this in school today. We took part in a circle time focused on respect, tolerance and celebrating our differences. 
    We started our circle time looking at what makes us different? and then looked at what makes us the same?  
     

    As a class we made a kindness chain. Each link represented an act of kindness they have done or witnessed, linked to tolerance and respect. 
    We are proud to be part of St John’s which is a No Outsiders school. Here we celebrate everyone. 

  • Year 3 are mathematicians 🔺▪️🔵

    This week year 3 have been exploring shape. We started the week by identifying 2D and 3D shapes. We then moved onto exploring properties of these shapes. By the end of the week we used our knowledge to make 3D shapes. What shapes can you see?

  • Year 5 can create vector drawings

    Year 5 have been using Google Draw to create vector drawings.  These are  drawings done using computer graphics. Everyone was super creative! 

  • Nursery are storytellers!

    This week Nursery have started their text, 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' We came into school and found a huge beanstalk in our classroom. We have been talking about how it got there and who we think lives at the top. We have then been exploring magic beans and soil.
