• Year 6 are geographers!

  This week, Year 6 have looked at how the population of Manchester has changed over the last thirty years. The children used different pieces of evidence to support or change their viewpoints about whether they believe the population has increased or decreased. After they had come to a conclusion, the children then discussed what are the positive and negative aspects of Manchester’s change in population.

  

• We are ‘Wiggle Worshipers’

  This week we had a very exciting visit from Jo at Wiggle Worship. We loved joining in with the songs and stories. We even had a special appearance from ‘Wiggle’ himself. 
  We look forward to our Reception parents joining us next week (Thursday 8th October at 2pm) for our Wiggle Worship session. 

  

• LKS2 are Poets ✏️📝

  On Thursday, it was Poetry Day and the theme was ‘Wonder’. We watched a live lesson with Hot Poets and Michael Rosen and created some of our own ‘wonder’ poems. We also focused on the poem ‘Leisure’ by William Henry Davies, unpicking the poem, exploring vocabulary and then creating our own poem using ‘Leisure’ as inspiration. 

  

• Nursery are Poets!

  Nursery have enjoyed exploring our poem 'Hurt No Living Thing.' We have been painting ladybirds and going on worm hunts outside. Well done Nursery!

  

• Sports this week! ⚽️🏃🏻‍♂️🏅

  It’s been a busy week of sporting events and we have lots more planned during the autumn term! 
   

  We had our annual Sportshall Athletics event at Eccles College on Wednesday and our Y6 pupils represented school excellently. Well done Y6!

   

  On Friday, ten of our Y4 boys and girls attended a football festival at Manchester City, something new for this year. They had a fantastic time and received lots of praise from the staff involved. Well done Y4! 

  

• LKS2 are Scientists 🧪🧑‍🔬

  This week, LKS2 took part in a Science investigation to find out which substance (butter, ice cubes and chocolate) had the highest melting point. We found out that the chocolate had the lowest melting point and butter had the highest melting point. 

  

• LKS2 are Chefs 🧑‍🍳

  This week, some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children enjoyed a visit from City Wide to take part in a ‘Food for Champions’ session. They learnt all about allergens before getting hands-on and making their very own ‘Super Beet’ burgers. They were delicious!

  This week we have started our geography topic ‘The Northwest’. We started the unit by exploring what a settlement is and the different types of settlements. 
  In groups we explored different images, unpicking what we could see. 

  

• Year 3 are mathematicians

  This week Year 3 have been exploring capacity and volume. We have been converting millilitres into litres and litres into millilitres. We then filled our own containers and compared the volume of each. 

  

• Year 5 are scientists

  This week, year 5 have been learning about gestation in humans. They then used the computers to work scientifically and hypothesise, compare and evaluate the gestation period of animals. They investigated if there was any link between the animals size and its gestation period, it’s average number of babies per pregnancy and it’s life spam.
