    Bonjour, as it was European Day of languages this week, we have been celebrating all of our home languages here in Year 2. Children have been sharing how they say ‘Good morning’ and ‘Hello’ in their home language and have been choosing other languages to practice throughout the week and learn with their friends. It’s been so wonderful to see such a diverse range of languages being spoken.

    This week year 4 have started their new topic all about animal habitats. We looked at what characteristics makes something alive and we explored different ways of grouping animals. Well done Year 4

  • Year 3 are Geographers

    Last week as part of our Geography field work we conducted a traffic survey in the local area. We looked at a stretch of road for 5 minutes to see what different types of vehicles we saw. The children really enjoyed this activity!

    This afternoon Year 1 ventured out on a walk of the local area. We focussed on counting how many bins were on our walk to and around Lightoaks Park. We found that the bins were being very well used as we did not see much litter. We used a map to plan our route.

    The Reception children loved having some of their parents in to school to share a story with them. We are all really enjoying our reading and it was so lovely to see the children share this enthusiasm with their parents.

    For our Geography fieldwork, Year 5 carried out a land-use survey in our local area. We wanted to think about how the land has changed from the past and look at the similarities and differences.

     

  • Year 6 are geographers

    This week, we walked to The Height to complete our geography fieldwork. We looked at the types of shops and the ages of the people we saw to help inform our decision about the type of shop we would open. We all had a great time using our maps despite the rain!

  • Nursery are explorers

    Last week Nursery enjoyed exploring the rain. We enjoyed listening to the sound that it made and we enjoyed watching the rain drops on the windows. We also talked about what we needed to wear to keep ourselves dry and safe. We then had lots of fun splashing in the puddles. Well done Nursery!

    In geography, year 2 have been learning about human and physical features in their local area. They went on a local area walk to identify the different features and created a collage to show the human and physical features.

  • We are storytellers

    We have been learning the story ‘The sweet talking potato’. It is a really funny story and we have really enjoyed retelling the story.
