Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Over the last two weeks Year 4 have been designing and making a Christmas tree decoration for the Christmas trees in St John’s Church. They have created a design brief, a mood board and studied the work of Cath Kidston. They then created their own designs which they sewed and decorated. Today during our visit to church they were able to put them onto the tree. Well done Year 4, your decorations were amazing!
This week we have been designing and making our own pop up Christmas cards. We learnt how to make different mechanisms and created our own Christmas designs. We can’t wait to bring them home to show you.
In R.E. we have been learning about John the Baptist and his significance within Christianity. We then developed speeches discussing modern day issues that we believed that he would want to talk about. Excitingly, we got the opportunity to go to attend John’s Church to meet Rev. Gareth and some of us got the opportunity to deliver these impassioned speeches
Last week Nursery started our Christmas celebrations. We took part in our Nativity and we all did really well at singing the songs. We have also been making our advent promises by tying purple ribbon on to a tree in our playground.
This week in PE we have been exploring different positions demonstrating a variety of stretched and curled shapes. We have been applying those skills onto different apparatus.
Year 1 and 2 have delivered two fantastic performances of ‘It’s a Party’ this week! We are so proud of all of the children for their effort and participation. They really did put on an excellent show. Well done KS1!
Year 4 have been working incredibly hard over the last few weeks on their gymnastic skills. This week they have created their own routines that included travels, rolls, balances and jumps. Well done year 4, we definitely have some superstar gymnasts in the making. Keep up the hard work.
This term Key Stage One’s Well-Being ambassadors have been working really hard on recycling paper across the Daisy Bank site. They have been monitoring and recycling all paper waste and I’m glad to say it’s been a major success and children are really getting behind being more aware of any paper they waste and how we can all be more efficient with our usage.
Next term … plastic!
Last week Nursery learnt about the job that doctors do. We had lots of fun pretending to be doctors and we set up our own St John's hospital!
