Year 3 were very lucky this week as they had a special visitor in class who taught them all about the Stone Age. The children absolutely loved the whole session and completed a range of activities including cave drawings, exploring the tools which they used and being around a campfire.
Year 1 have really impressed this week with their maths skills. They have been using a number line to solve missing number calculations and practising their place value knowledge to use tens and ones to make 2 digit numbers. Also in computing this week the children have been looking at labelling, matching and grouping objects.
This half term we are looking at the famous Shakespeare play, ‘Macbeth’. We began by looking at images of the play and where it was set. We then had to create a set of predictions to work out what happens in the story.
Today we looked at the main parts of the story and mapped them out. We explored some of the main quotes from the story and discussed their meaning.
This week, year 2 visited the library. They got to spend time exploring the different sections and then each got a library card and checked out a book. Everyone had so much fun and their love of reading shone!
Last week Nursery started learning about life cycles. We looked at different birds and talked about what happened to the egg and then how the baby animal changed.
Year 4 have begun their new art topic by exploring the work of Karla Schuster. Her work focuses on collage techniques and in particular animals. This week we have explored a variety of techniques that we could incorporate into our own pieces as well as sketching some animal prints. Today we have used cold water paste and marbling to create different textures for our end piece. Well done year 4!
We had lots of fun exploring a new text this week!
It was great to see so many families at our computing workshops this week using the Crumble kits, data loggers and Microbits!
Year 3 have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We described them, recognised them by naming them and their properties. We also sorted them into groups.
We also made models of 3D shapes.
