This week we have become designers in Year 3. We have been investigating, designing and creating an Easter box for family and friends which can hold an egg. We have explored different packages, looked at different nets, explored how to make shell structures strong and sturdy and designed and made our own boxes which holds an Easter egg.
Nursery enjoyed celebrating World Maths Day on Friday. We took part in lots of fun activities to practise our maths skills. We rolled dice and built towers with our friends and talked about whose tower was taller or shorter. We played beanbag games outside and wrote down our scores and we made animals with different shapes.

In Year 3, we have been learning all about festivals and why they are important to religious communities. We have looked at the Easter story and thought about whether Christians would feel Easter was a happy festival or not and why.
We then had Reverend Karen in who came to speak to us about how Christians prepare for Easter in their homes and in the church.
This week, we have been sequencing significant people on a timeline, looking at key dates and key events that have influenced history.
Daisy Bank children had some wonderful visitors in their assembly this morning. A string quartet from the Royal Northern College of Music. They played lots of different music to represent different seasons and animals. The children (and teachers) absolutely loved listening to the music. Year 1 then had an extra special treat of being able to have a closer look at a violin in small groups and play it.
This week is Shakespeare week and Year 4 have been learning Sonnet 18. We have acted it out in our step and speak session. We have also been exploring the language that Shakespeare used and compared it to modern day English.

Reception H had a lovely morning sharing their learning with the parents. They had a super morning and loved showing the parents how to make a kite and singing their song.
