This week in computing we developed our understanding of sequencing by having the opportunity to to combine motion and sound in one sequence. We learnt how to use costumes to change appearance of a sprite, and backdrops to change the appearance of the stage.
Nursery have started storytelling week by learning all about worms. We enjoyed going on worm hunts outside, some of us even tried worm charming by stamping our feet to make the worms come to the top of the soil! We have also been practising using super sentences to talk about what we have learnt. Well done Nursery!
Year 5 have continued with art this week and have been practicing their sewing skills! We learnt to do a running stitch and a cross stitch and practiced on fabric. Some of us even stitched our initials!
This week in maths year 3 have been looking at division. We have been using place value counters to support our understanding. We started by partitioning 2 digit numbers into tens and ones. We then looked at how we then divide those numbers. We counted how many were in each equal group to give us our answers.
Year 5 have started their art topic this week focusing on Michael Craig Martin. We used carbon paper to carefully print everyday icons.
This week in Year 3 we have started our new Science topic ‘Animals, including humans’. We have started looking at what makes a balanced diet. As a group, we created our own balanced diet food pyramid.
This week our Geography learning has started with an enquiry session. The children looked at two aerial view photographs and used their prior Geographical knowledge to explain whether they thought it was somewhere in the UK or not. We have also spent time using an Atlas to locate Kenya and we did lots of research into this African country. The children have enjoyed looking at the atlases so much that we have kept some in our reading corner now for the children to access throughout the day.
Our Maths learning has focussed on finding lines of symmetry. This is a tricky skill to understand and master but the children did really well with it.
This week Year 3 have been exploring money. We have looked at addition of money, subtraction of money and have started to explore finding change. We used practical resources to support us before moving onto using a written method.
Today, Year 6 worked on their understanding of modal verbs. We acted as UN representatives for different nations and used modal verbs to suggest what we thought should be done about the global infestation of greebeldies.
This week, year 5 worked really hard during P4C and thinking about religion around us.
