Year 2 have both had computing day this week where they have used iPads to take photos. They have learnt about how to take photos using the camera; how to make sure the photo is focussed, the background is clear and the object is framed correctly. Great photography skills!!
This week Year 3 have started to explore Ecuador 🇪🇨. We used the atlas’ and the globe to locate Ecuador in comparison to England. We discussed which continent Ecuador is in and looked at other countries within South America. We the researched in groups different things about Ecuador 🇪🇨. We used iPad's and atlas’s to find out where it was, what is close to it, human and physical features of the county, animals and people you might find there and what the weather is like. We then came together to complete a COWWS grid with the information we found.
This week Year 3 have been exploring division. We have looked at sharing and grouping. We completed challenge questions identifying what the question was asking us to do and using that method used concrete resources to solve the calculation. 🧮
Great history work, Year 2!
This week, Year 6 have been looking at fraction, decimal, percentage equivalents. Today, we used the abacus to help us visualise these. They helped us to calculate some real tricky ones!
This week, year 5 did a science investigation to see which filter would be best to clean dirty water. We used a coffee filter, sieve and a sand filter. The coffee filter was the best because the holes in it were the smallest so let through the least amount of dirt!
This week Year 3 became animators in Computing. We created our own storyboards showing the character, settings and events that we would like to include in our own stop-frame animations. We the used onion skinning to help make small changes between frames.
This week, Year 6 have started designing their own websites. The children worked together to decide on the content of their website and who their target audience would be. We are really excited to see these come together!
This week, Year 6 started their new story “The Skeleton Woman”. They were tasked with writing a newspaper headline and short introduction all about it. We were so impressed with their pieces!
