Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Nursery have been enjoying retelling the story, 'Little Bear' this week. We have been on a story walk outside pretending to be Little Bear looking for the honey. Well done Nursery!
This week in Year 3 we have started our new maths topic ‘Multiplication and Division’. We started off the week looking at groups of, in terms of multiplication and then moved onto arrays. We used concrete resources to represent our arrays and explained what we noticed. For example, we looked at how 5 x 2 can be represented as 5 rows of 2 or 2 rows of 5.
Year 4 have been investigating states of matter in Science. We have investigated whether all liquids will freeze and made comparisons between different substances melting points.
Our Science learning has continued this week and we have been learning about animals and their habitats. We considered why certain habitants are suitable for different animals and how their needs are met. We have also learnt about objects that are living, no longer living and have never living. It’s been a great week of Science learning!
In Maths this week we have been putting our number bond to 10 knowledge to the test! We have been focussing in addition when the ones add up to over 10. Children have had to move ones across to make a 10 then exchange this for a ten stick. It’s been very tricky but they have been very resilient (and enthusiastic!) Well done Year 2, we are very proud of your progress.
This week Year 2 have been applying their number bond to 10 knowledge to solve tricky calculations in their heads. One of our lessons focussed on identifying 10 more and 10 less using a variety of resources. Well done Year 2, another great week of learning!
This week Year 3 have started their new science topic on rocks. We started our topic by looking at how we can classify rocks, properties of rocks and a discussion around where we find rocks. We became Geologists, looking at the rocks carefully and identifying how they feel. We then created our own ‘top trump’ cards looking at the properties of three different types of rocks.
This week Nursery have been learning about the Police. We have enjoyed dressing up and pretending to be police officers. We even had a visit from the police and learnt lots of information from them and we enjoyed listening to the police car sirens!
Year 5 have been working hard on their history topic. We are enjoying learning about the Industrial Revolution and the impact this had on football.
This half term year 3 have started looking at celebrations in French 🇫🇷. We have explored French Christmas traditions as well as naming Christmas items. Can you guess what items they are?
This week in Reception we are solving a mystery. What has happened to the Gingerbread Man? The children have been hunting for clues to find out where the Gingerbread Man went. We checked our finger prints and looked for evidence.
We hope to solve the mystery!
