Year 2 have loved their art topic! They designed and made clay tiles based on the natural world. They added mixed media to add different elements to their tiles such as shells and driftwood. The tiles look amazing!
Nursery have been learning about Italy this week. We have been learning about where Italy is, what the flag looks like and what food comes from there. We have had lots of fun pretending to make pizzas in our pizza shop!
This week we are focusing on computing. We have been exploring the concept of repetition in programming using the Scratch environment. We looked at count controlled and infinity loops to modify animations and games using this function.
In this week’s lesson we created designs for our animations and used repetition to move our sprites using event blocks (green flag)
We looked at which actions to use to repeat and have explained the outcome of these repeated actions. We created some really fun games and animation this week and can’t wait to explore it further.
Reception have been exploring African instruments outdoors.
We have also enjoyed playing with water, it has cooled us down during the hot days!
This week we have been exploring our new D/T topic of designing a special light for our reflection area. We have been combining all our skills we have learnt in our recent electricity topic. Our focus will be on utilising simple circuits and switches to make a light then designing, making and evaluating the theme of the light.
This week we have looked at lots of different nets to understand how easy they are to construct and which shapes would be most suitable for our design. We made cubes, cuboids, triangular prisms and cone shapes to determine this.
Lastly we decided upon a suitable theme for our design and we created these in our DT books.
We are looking forward to creating our designs next week
This week, Year 6 really enjoyed creating their own poems for characters in their children's stories. We looked at the form of a Kenning poem and then wrote our own. We were so impressed with the final pieces!
We have been learning about how to be healthy in Nursery and this week we learnt about how to look after our teeth. We have enjoyed brushing the pretend teeth and pretending to be dentists.
Year 3 have impressed their teachers so much this week with their history skills! They used their enquiry skills to explore pictures, timelines and artefacts. They used atlases to locate Kent and Rome and discuss the Roman’s invasion choices. We then became Roman Emperor Claudius and gave reasons why we would invade Britain.
Year 2 visited Park Lane this week as part of their transition work. They had a great time exploring the site and meeting some of the teachers and older children.
