Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have had a lovely week in Year 4. We have been learning all about Electricity, diving into our new Greek myth for our writing and causing a splash during our swimming lessons. We have learnt so much and really enjoyed the sunny weather.
One of our highlights have been during our RE lessons this week. We have been learning about rules and the significance of them. This generated a lot of discussion which culminated in a class discussion on the grass. We shared the P4C plan whereby we sat in a circle, respected views and used hand prompts to indicate we had a view or even a burning issue to discuss.. It was a lovely session and we got so much out of it as a class. Fantastic work everybody.
Reception went on a walk around our local area to see what we could find. We were looking at the buildings as well as the vehicles we could see. Next week, we are going to compare our local area to Africa. We had a basic map and had to add on the buildings around us.
This week, Year 5 have been completing an Art project based on the work of Elizabeth St Hilaire and Kathy Fitzgerald. We used batik on material to create our backgrounds and afterwards, we used carbon paper to print our design on to it. Then, we stitched into our designs.
Year 3 have impressed their teachers so much this week with their philosophy skills! They use P4C (Philosophy for Children) to deeply and explore ideas about plants. They discussed what a great enquiry question looks like and gave excellent responses during their community of enquiry. Well done Year 3!
This week, Y6 started their new writing topic. They are all going to be creating their own children's book. We had a fantastic time this week reading children's books to get lots of ideas. They all had a great time and were reminded of some old favourites including 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt' and 'The Gruffalo'!
This week, Nursery have been exploring repeating patterns. Everyone has worked hard and has enjoyed making patterns with things from our classroom. We especially enjoyed making them with things we found outside. Well done Nursery!
Year 2 have really enjoyed exploring clay this week. We manipulated the clay by twisting, pinching and joining it together. We got lots of ideas for our designs of clay tiles which we will be creating next week.
