In History this half term we have been investigating Alan Turing and L S Lowry. This week we looked at some paintings of Manchester and Salford by Lowry and decided how reliable they were as sources compared to photographs.
In our computing sessions this term, we are thinking about video production. This week we analysed different videos online and considered what techniques were used.
This week we have been creating firework pictures. We have used a range of tools to create different shapes and effects.
This week Year 3 enjoyed a breakfast with books with our teachers and grown ups. We had a lovely morning looking at reading together and having a yummy breakfast.
This week we are continuing our learning about the Industrial Revolution. Using our learning from last week, we wrote a diary as if we were a child working in one of the mills during this period of history.
We discussed what the working conditions must have been like in in the factories and the mills, studied the horrendous accidents that occurred there and came up with personal response to these situations. We also looked at creating a balanced view and talked about the positives these children faced against others who lived in that time period.
Last week Nursery enjoyed retelling the story, 'Little Bear' in different ways. We used small world and we also made a large story map outside. Well done Nursery!
Year 4 took part in a P4C session (Philosophy for Children) in RE. They thought deeply about why light is so significant in religions and why it is used as a metaphor. They then completed an enquiry sharing their ideas as a community.
Well done, Year 4!
This week, we had a special guided reading session with Mrs Howley. We learnt all about ‘clarifying’ and making a picture in our head when we read and we thought of lots of fantastic questions about the text we were reading.
Year 1 have been working Scientifically this week by observing seasonal changes. We went on an Autumnal walk and looked at the signs of Autumn. We will go on a Winter walk and compare the changes.
Year 4 have begun their new history topic all about the suffragettes and why they are significant in our local area. They have started the topic off by exploring some images of different types of protests and by learning more about Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison.
Well done year 4!
