Today the children rehearsed the poem ‘The Highwayman’. We worked in pairs on our individual stanzas and had a great time adding actions and performing them.
Year 2 are Writers this week where they have written their own character description about the fox from our story ‘The Fox’s Sack.’ We have been blown away with the level of vocabulary used with words such as ‘sly, cunning, mysterious, ferocious, incredible and magnificent!’
Today the children investigated light affects what we can see.
It was lovely to have so many parents join us last week for our Reading Picnic and curriculum meeting. It is always brilliant to see the children enjoying and sharing books with each other and their adults. We hope you enjoyed it too!
Year 4 have started their poetry cycle ready for poetry day on the 3rd October. Our poem is Leisure by William Henry Davies. We have acted out our poem and done some freeze frame work ready to perform it later on in the week.
Well done Year 4 keep up the hard work!
This week, Year 5 combined their learning objectives for Computing and Geography to be able to search the web to find specific information relating to counties and cities within the UK. They then used this information to label certain counties, cities, mountains and rivers onto the map of the UK. Lots of great learning!
Today Year 6 visited The Height to conduct their market research. They surveyed shops and the age demographics of the people we saw to help them decide the type of shop they should open.
Reception have been naming and labelling body parts. They blew us away with their fantastic knowledge of the human body.
On Wednesday Year 1 went on a walk around our local area as part of our Geography topic about where we live. We completed a tally chart about how much litter we could see in different areas. When we got back to class, we compared the results and identified which areas needed more bins.
This week, Year 5 have been exploring counties and cities within the UK. We have developed our map skills by seeing where counties are positioned on a map. Also, we have focused more specifically on the differences between the counties of Cornwall, Greater London and Greater Manchester. We have explored how they differ in population and population density.
