This week children went to church for Easter Experience put on by Year 5. This helped them develop their existing knowledge of how Christians celebrate Easter and why this is important to them.
This week the year 3 children were delving deeper into the story and meaning of Easter. The children enjoyed taking part in all the activities that year 5 had set up to take us through each important moment from the last supper with the disciples to Jesus dying on the cross.
This week, Year 4 took part in St John’s Easter experience at church. Year 5 led the event and told each class about the Easter story.
The children enjoyed visits from a pharmacist and a poet. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about how pharmacists can tell us the correct medication to take . They were amazed by our poet who came and shared one of her fabulous poems. It was an amazing experience.
This week the children have continued to explore magnets and forces and considering at what distance does a magnet attract a paper clip, thinking about contact force and how we move objects as well as how magnets attract objects to them through non-contact force. They have also explored how friction can slow down or speed up an object.
This week year 2 had a visit from Anthony Reddy. He did 2 workshops with us. 1 group looking at applying bonds to 10 to numbers up to 100 and the other group looked at finding the difference between numbers. We used fun practical games and learned some songs to help us remember techniques.
This week in Year 4 we have begun our new cycle with a Shakespeare Sonnet. The children explored Sonnet 18 and unpicked some of the Elizabethan language such as; thou, hath, thee and grow’st. Did you know Shakespeare invented some of the words we use today such as; bedazzled, watchdog and fair-play?
Reception have sculpted different pieces of art, inspired by Lorien Stern.
This week, Year 6 were visited by chefs who helped us to cook our own meals from scratch. We got to watch them cook and even try some of the food! We had a great time and are looking forward to using the ingredients to make our own at home.
This week has been science week. During lessons, Year 4 have taken part in different ‘sound’ experiments. They have investigated how we hear sounds, the pitch of sound and sound vibrations.
