This week in RE year 2 had a visit from Reverend Gareth where he discussed the different Easter symbols and where and why we will find them in the church. We looked at a paschal candle, a crucifix, bread and wine, palm leaves and the symbols of the tomb Jesus was buried in. The children then chose w2 of these items and wrote about what they represent.
This week in RE the children have been exploring how objects can bring us comfort and have special meanings. Year 3 have thought about an object that is special to them, who gave it them and what memories they have with that object also special people in their lives. We then considered how Hindu pray with music and the special items they might have in a shrine.
We have loved having the children’s families join us this week for our Belong, Believe, Achieve workshop. It was a great success. The children were able to show their families what they have been learning about in class. We are very proud of them.
This week Year 4 have been looking at different elements of writing. They have explored casual conjunctions to join two sentences together and have also been the teacher by marking some of Mrs Halpin-Power’s work on direct speech. Well done Year 4, keep up the super work!
This week in Nursery, we have learnt all about Lunar New Year. We have really enjoyed making our class dragon and listened to dragon dance music. We looked at the Chinese Zodiac story and were very excited to listen to who won the race.
This week we have recapped our learning of place value of numbers up to 30. The children used different concrete resources to represent the number and moved around the carousel of activities. Keep up this great work Year 1!
We have started our new Science topic on light and Year 6 were tasked with investigating how light travels. We set up an experiment to prove that light travels in straight lines using a torch and pieces of cards. Next time, we are learning about shadows to help Miss Hardman position her sun shade when on holiday!
Reception have enjoyed playing in our outdoors area and comparing the different changes in the weather this week. They loved playing outside on Friday, where it was so windy they made some kites and watched them dance in the wind!
This week we have been working on using ‘sticky words’ such as ‘and, but, because, so’ to join two sentences together, we have been so impressed with the children’s understanding.
This week Nursery had their Belong. Believe, Achieve workshop. The children made us really proud and were able to tell their parents what they have been learning about.
