Reception have been to church to learn about Baptism. Reverend Gareth showed us what happens at a Baptism. The children had a wonderful time and enjoyed being in such a special place.
This week, Year 5 have started their Geography topic focusing on Coasts in the UK. The children used atlases to locate settlements around the coast of the UK. The children then shared their location and looked at images of their place as a class to see what physical and human features were found there. They then discussed what was similar and different about all of the places we found.
In PSHE, we have listened to and discussed the story of Elmer by David Nichols. The children thought about what qualities make them different and special from each other, just like the patchwork elephant called Elmer in the story. They wrote down two of their unique qualities and decorated their elephant.
Nursery loved learning all about VE Day. We made our own flags and had a celebration in class. The children listened to music from the war time and had a dance. It was lovely to see how engrossed the children were with their play.
Year 1 have started looking at musical notation this week. To introduce this tricky concept, they have been composing their own pieces of music using body percussion. In pairs, they performed them to the class.
In Maths, the children have moved on from multiplication and onto division. They have started this topic with doing lots of sharing. This is a tricky task but they’ve had great resilient skills.
Nursery had a great time exploring the art of Leonardo da Vinci. They created their own masterpieces which we were super proud of.
This week Year 2 have been amazing mathematicians by looking at a variety of mental maths strategies to help them with addition. They have looked at partitioning, counting on, doubling and adjusting and manipulating the calculations to help solve two-digit addition problems.
Today, Year 6 took part in a revision version of The Traitors. We had to work in groups to answer questions while a traitor was working amongst us to sabotage us! The children had a fantastic time and are working so hard. We are so proud of them!
This week Y3 have started their new Science topic on plants 🪴. We have been on a plant hunt on the school grounds, named and labelled functions of a plants and flower and dissected flowers 🌺 . We have amazed our teachers with our knowledge. Come and see what we have done!
This week Year 4 have started their new French topic all about hobbies. They’ve learned the French words for their favourite hobbies. Well done Year 4!
