This week Year 2 have been Geographers. They have been comparing the cities of Salford (Manchester) and Nairobi (Kenya) and noting any similarities and differences between them. Children researched each city using IPads, non-fiction texts and atlases and compiled fact sheets about each city based on location, climate, wildlife and features. They have gone on to produce a weather report comparing the two cities and will move on to looking at population.
Year 4 have started their new French topic all about school. They have learned how to say the different subjects in French and practised saying them in a sentence around their table. What a super start to the new topic. Well done.

This week, Year 6 represented different nations at a UN convention discussing the ‘greebeldy’ problem sweeping the globe. The children used their knowledge of modal verbs to write down their ideas as to how the issues should be dealt with. We had a fantastic time and have some government representatives in the making!
Nursery loved taking their learning into the hall to practise balancing, climbing and jumping safely. We had a great time and the children even helped to tidy up at the end.
This week year 3 have been practising their 4s and 8s times tables by drawing arrays, using the Abacus and counters to explore multiplication and division fact families.
This week, Year 5 started their geography topic comparing California to the North-West England. They began by learning about different climate zones and understanding how a location’s position relative to the equator affects the climate it has. The next lesson, Year 5 began understanding where North-West England and California are located in regards to their hemisphere, continent and country. A great start to this topic!
This week we challenged Nursery to think about what they wanted to paint before painting. They needed to think about the colours they wanted to use and the shapes they would need to make. They created fantastic paintings. Well done Nursery.
This week as part of their Design and Technology project, Year 2 have been chefs and made vegetable tartlets. Using an array of different vegetables including; courgette, tomato’s, spinach, mushroom, sweetcorn and then passata and pesto sauces, children designed, made and evaluated their tartlets. It was so lovely to see children willing to try lots of new food that they hadn’t tasted before. I’m sure you’ll agree they all turned out AMAZING!
