On Wednesday Year 1 went on a walk around our local area as part of our Geography topic about where we live. We completed a tally chart about how much litter we could see in different areas. When we got back to class, we compared the results and identified which areas needed more bins.
This week, Year 5 have been exploring counties and cities within the UK. We have developed our map skills by seeing where counties are positioned on a map. Also, we have focused more specifically on the differences between the counties of Cornwall, Greater London and Greater Manchester. We have explored how they differ in population and population density.
This week in Music we looked at instruments that we needed to shake in order to make a different sound. We listened to the different sounds and explored a range of instruments.
Thank you to all those who came in for the curriculum meeting the children really enjoyed sharing their books and reading to parents and carers
Year 2 are Geographers and this week have been on a local field walk identifying the types of housing in our local area. They have been able to distinguish between terraced, detached and semi-detached houses as well as identifying flats and bungalows. They have then worked really hard and transferred their collected data into a bar chart to help them answer questions about their findings.
Year 4 have been practising their throwing and catching skills this week. They have worked hard at throwing their ball as far as they can both overarm and underarm.
Well done Year 4.
Year 6 pupils made an excellent start to their BikeAbility courses today. Everyone impressed us with their resilience and effort and it was great to see the children really supporting one another too.
Mrs Procter and Mrs Hudson have been so pleased with how Year 1 have settled in this week. They have been busy learning about the UK in Geography, counting in Maths and learning our new story called The Noisy House in English,
This week, Year 6 started their new Geography topic. They revealed sections of a photograph of the place we would be studying and made predictions about its location based on what they could see. We had a fantastic time discovering St. Lucia!
