Year 3 have become Geographers this week exploring Ecuador. We begun by researching some facts about Ecuador and learning which continent you would find it in, the ocean which surrounds it and what you would find there. We are now becoming presenters and going to be creating our own VLOGs.
Last week Year 4 started their drumming sessions with the music service. The children were exploring the different types of drums and the sounds they make. They then began to create a rhythm with their instrument. They started to learn how to play We will rock you. The music teacher was amazed. Well done Year 4, keep it up!
This week we have been creating our own pieces of art. We needed to think about what we wanted to paint, the shapes we needed to create and the colours to use.
Last week Nursery started to investigate patterns. We learnt new vocabulary to describe the patterns that we could see such as spotty, stripy and pointy. We enjoyed printing patterns in the creative area and we enjoyed matching animal patterns outside. Well done Nursery!
In year 6 we are writing a set of instructions based around the story of Pog.
Today we looked at creating our own creatures where we looked at its weaknesses, described how we would defeat it and labelled all of its features. We had loads of fun designing our hideous creatures and can’t wait to start writing our fantastic instructions.
Year 1 have been using their ‘tappy pencil’ to write some super sentences this week..!
This week we have been learning about how to divide a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. We used our place value counters and place value table to support us with solving the calculations.
Over the last two weeks Year 4 have been designing and making a Christmas tree decoration for the Christmas trees in St John’s Church. They have created a design brief, a mood board and studied the work of Cath Kidston. They then created their own designs which they sewed and decorated. Today during our visit to church they were able to put them onto the tree. Well done Year 4, your decorations were amazing!
This week we have been designing and making our own pop up Christmas cards. We learnt how to make different mechanisms and created our own Christmas designs. We can’t wait to bring them home to show you.
In R.E. we have been learning about John the Baptist and his significance within Christianity. We then developed speeches discussing modern day issues that we believed that he would want to talk about. Excitingly, we got the opportunity to go to attend John’s Church to meet Rev. Gareth and some of us got the opportunity to deliver these impassioned speeches
