Last week Nursery enjoyed poetry week. We read the poem, 'Hurt no Living Thing.' The children then enjoyed going on bug hunts to find minibeasts. They also enjoyed making butterflies and ladybirds in the creative area. Well done Nursery!
This week in Year 2, we have been learning and reciting the poem ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. Children have analysed and practiced the poem throughout the week and then performed these today on National Poetry Day (complete with actions.) They have even begun to adapt this poem into their own version and will continue tomorrow.
Last week Year 3 visited the Lowry to take part in an art workshop and see the exhibitions. The children created their own collages in the style of Lowry’s work. We really enjoyed our visit and are looking forward to creating more art in school soon.
This week we have been developing our passing and receiving skills. We have enjoyed improving these movements and we have also also focused on teamwork and how to communicate effectively.
Last week Nursery started reading, 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' We enjoyed exploring porridge oats and playing with the story props. We enjoyed pretending to be the different characters and we are starting to talk about our favourite part of the story. Well done Nursery!
Bonjour, as it was European Day of languages this week, we have been celebrating all of our home languages here in Year 2. Children have been sharing how they say ‘Good morning’ and ‘Hello’ in their home language and have been choosing other languages to practice throughout the week and learn with their friends. It’s been so wonderful to see such a diverse range of languages being spoken.
This week year 4 have started their new topic all about animal habitats. We looked at what characteristics makes something alive and we explored different ways of grouping animals. Well done Year 4
Last week as part of our Geography field work we conducted a traffic survey in the local area. We looked at a stretch of road for 5 minutes to see what different types of vehicles we saw. The children really enjoyed this activity!
