Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
This afternoon Year 1 ventured out on a walk of the local area. We focussed on counting how many bins were on our walk to and around Lightoaks Park. We found that the bins were being very well used as we did not see much litter. We used a map to plan our route.
The Reception children loved having some of their parents in to school to share a story with them. We are all really enjoying our reading and it was so lovely to see the children share this enthusiasm with their parents.
This week, we walked to The Height to complete our geography fieldwork. We looked at the types of shops and the ages of the people we saw to help inform our decision about the type of shop we would open. We all had a great time using our maps despite the rain!
Last week Nursery enjoyed exploring the rain. We enjoyed listening to the sound that it made and we enjoyed watching the rain drops on the windows. We also talked about what we needed to wear to keep ourselves dry and safe. We then had lots of fun splashing in the puddles. Well done Nursery!
In geography, year 2 have been learning about human and physical features in their local area. They went on a local area walk to identify the different features and created a collage to show the human and physical features.
We have been learning the story ‘The sweet talking potato’. It is a really funny story and we have really enjoyed retelling the story.
This week in Year 4 we have been carrying out some field work and exploring our local area. We have looked at what parts of our local area make us happy and which parts make us sad or angry. We have been discussing why there was more litter around the streets than in Light Oaks Park and we think this is because there are more bins in the park than in the rest of our local area. Well done Year 4!
This week we have been focusing on forming our numbers and letters correctly. It’s really important that the children start at the right place and they move their pencil in the right direction. We have been practising how to hold our pencils correctly too. Keep up this excellent effort Year 1, we are so proud of your progress so far!
